A brand new, blockbuster aesthetic store has made waves in the Grandville area. The little shop, known as Bardertown, opened earlier this year in mid-July with its grand opening in August. Bardertown was built with the idea of physical media being superior to current streaming media. “I think that streaming is dying. You have to pay millions of dollars for 50 different services just to see what you want,"said Ritzema, one of the owners of the shop.

 The shop also offers a glimpse into the past about how seeing new movies used to be. The shop can offer that old feeling of going to a Redbox or Blockbuster on a Friday night to see what movies were available to watch that night.

Although the store has been open for a few months, Bardertown is going beyond expectations. From just picturing earning 100 dollars a weekend, the shop is making roughly four times more than expected. While the shop has been making money, flyers have been going up around town in places the owners hadn't even placed yet. “I saw a store just the other day in East Town that had our flyer in it, and we didn't even give it to them,” said Ritzema. "Our partner works up in Cadillac, and he gets people working all the way up there asking about the store.” The shop has made waves big enough to reach people who are just over 100 miles away from the shop.

 There is more in store for the future of Bardertown. The shop owners want to start hosting more local events to gather like-minded people to have a great time. The upcoming event planned for early November is called “Afternoon with Geeks”. This event is intended to reach out to people with their own hobbies to meet more people with the same interests. “There’s a gentleman who wrote a book about Star Trek who's coming to do a book signing and talk about Star Trek," Ritzema said. 

In the past few months, Bardertown has really made waves in this modern streaming world, offering a glimpse into what life was like before on-demand streaming.
