There are hundreds of friendly faces working at the high school. Teachers, principals, counselors, and more are all here to ensure students have a positive and educational experience. Students and staff often create strong relationships that help propel students to achieve their goals and make school a place they look forward to going. Keith Blair is one staff member who is appreciated by many students for his sense of humor and kindness, although most of the students are unaware of the role he plays in the school’s system.
Formally known as the auditorium manager, Blair’s main job is to manage the events that take place in the new and old auditoriums. This includes musicals, plays, concerts, and meetings. This job also allows him to help out with any audio or visual (A/V) needs an event has. He keeps busy throughout the school year, especially in late winter when the musical and many winter concerts take place. On the off chance that he isn’t working on something, Blair helps out at other school events and occasionally acts as security during lunches. He commits almost all of his time to working on school productions: building props for the high school and middle school musicals, teaching students about backstage etiquette and stage lights, even setting up chairs and stands for band and orchestra concerts.
His dedication to performance-related work allows him to have strong relationships with the students involved. Under his influence, students learn how to properly work with A/V equipment, how to run curtains, how to make and move sets, and more. He also has built friendships with the music directors whom he is constantly working with. In fact, he was invited to be a chaperone at the band’s trip to Disney World this past December. Blair has set a high standard for all who work in an auditorium setting. “It takes both students and staff working together to make all the events we do possible and that is one of the most rewarding parts,” says Blair. His hard work is the backbone to some of the schools greatest productions, without him none of them would’ve come together as well as they did.
