Tech center is making a huge difference for students in high school. Careerline Tech Center’s mission statement is to prepare students for tomorrow's workforce by providing career and technical education for employment and post-secondary opportunities while promoting life-long learning and personal success. This has shown to be true and students have expressed that they do feel better prepared after taking tech center courses. According to OAISD, more than 1,400 students are enrolled in 28 career and technical education programs at Careerline Tech Center.

A large part of Tech Center is people trying to recognize and accommodate students who may learn differently than the traditional ways, aren’t interested in going to college after highschool, or want to get a head start on getting their college credits. While there, students can participate in work-based learning opportunities, earn college credit, or eventually earn certifications in their field of work.

Careerline Tech Center has many options for different fields and interests that students may want to pursue. The main categories of programs that they provide are agriculture/food, arts and communications, business/marketing, construction, engineering/manufacturing, health sciences, human services, and transportation. These programs are designed to provide students with the skills and training necessary for employment based on industry standards and advanced related training after high school. For each program there are advisors from the specific industry or a specific business that are there to represent the business’ viewpoints regarding program direction and to help in providing work- based learning experiences and placement opportunities.

Outside of school, Careerline Tech Center also offers camps and programs in the summer for students who weren't able to enroll through school. An additional resource they provide is the Student Job Board which acts as a free posting service to help advertise local employment opportunities for students.

High Schools utilizing tech centers are helping to make a change in the education system and are making it easier for juniors and seniors to be prepared for their lives after high school. This is helping students to not feel like they have to go to college in order to be successful and giving students more diversity in their opportunities.
